About The Queen's Guard
Q: What all does The Queen's Guard actually do?
A: We do many things. For starters, we show up at protests as a peaceful counter-protest, where we hold positive signs, come up with family-friendly chants together, and otherwise have cordial interaction with, and in support of, the LGBTQI+ community and allies. Many of our members are also being asked to educate the non-LGBTQI+ and LGBTQI+ communities alike on issues regarding LGBTQI+ people in formal settings, such as schools, and informal social groups.
Q: If counter-protesting in public is your goal, have you been able to do anything during the COVID pandemic?
A: Indeed we have! Our efforts are not limited to counter-protesting in public; we help educate people about LGBTQI+ matters, connect LGBTQI+ people with their community and with LGBTQI+ friendly businesses and organizations, share LGBTQI+ history, news, and affirmation, and our members each have their own individual way of spreading LGBTQI+ affirmation in their own lives. Some examples of our members' individual efforts include educating youth through LGBTQI+ inclusive sex ed, presenting about LGBTQI+ healthcare so that medical professionals can treat our community healthier and with more dignity, and arranging underground Pride events with other organizations.
Q: Has The Queen's Guard made an impact?
A: Yes! We have been requested to show up to various events after event-holders are made aware that anti-LGBTQI+ protesters will show up. We have had many LGBTQI+ people, and parents of, thank us for our efforts to spread positivity and love. A few newspapers have interviewed and written articles about our efforts and community service. We were even interviewed by the Southern Poverty Law Center! People have thanked us for our support of intersectionality and diversity, and for our presence at events that may not focus on LGTBQI+ matters, but overlap with or impact it.
Q: Is The Queen's Guard made up of all LGBTQI+ people or all allies?
A: We have a healthy mix of both LGBTQI+ people AND allies!
Q: Does The Queen's Guard have a center I can visit?
A: We do not currently have a physical location. We keep connected through social media and we show up, as needed, to various events.

The Queen's Guard at Events
Q: How does The Queen's Guard choose which events to show up to?
A: The Queen's Guard looks at multiple factors when making the decision to be at an event or not, and most events are discussed by the membership as a whole. Prior to attending an event, a member of the leadership will attempt to reach out to the event coordinator to ensure we are welcome.
Q: Can my organization partner with The Queen's Guard for events, or ask The Queen's Guard to attend my event?
A: Yes! A very important aspect to what we do is networking in our communities with other organizations.
Q: Does The Queen's Guard put on any events of its own?
A: Yes! In February 2020, we held our first event for LGBTQI+ Valentine's Day card making social. Shortly after that, we unfortunately had to limit our events due to COVID-19 out of concern for attendees and members. Once health risks associated with COVID-19 are no longer a concern, we will begin regular community events again.
Q: Does The Queen's Guard provide formal classes, or teach about LGBTQI+ history, health, identities, so on?
A: Formally? Not at this time. Although we are always happy to engage in non-confrontational conversations about LGBTQI+ topics.
